“Towards organic spintronics: embedded many-body perturbation approach for metal-molecule spinterface”

by Jing Li, condensed matter theory group, Neel Institute, Grenoble

Abstract

Organic spintronics is a young and rising research field targeting at realizing spintronic devices by using organic material benefiting from its long spin lifetime. Recent experiments show that organic material not only plays an important role as spin transport media but also influences significantly the spin injection from a ferromagnet to the organic material [1-2]. This feature provides a handle to control spin injection by tuning the conformation of spinterface, and promotes “spinterface engineering”, aiming at design or searching for a robust spinterface for efficient spin injection. Spin injection properties are governed by the electronic structure of spinterface. In this talk, I will discuss a predictive model to be developed for spinterface based on embedded many-body perturbation theory [3-5], which will be helpful for the development of organic electronics by quantitative determining the electronic structure and optical properties of spinterfaces.
